Meet Dr. Jerry Murphy
Choosing the Conservative Path
Growing up, Dr. Murphy had family members who had surgeries for their back problems. He was confused as to why they were still suffering afterward. As a health-conscious person, Dr. Murphy gravitated toward more conservative options to stay well. Some back problems led him to see the physical therapist and having MRIs. When nothing else worked, he ended up in the hands of a chiropractor.
That experience changed Dr. Murphy’s entire thought process. Though he’d considered becoming an ER doctor, he quickly decided to become a chiropractor.
Chiropractic Qualifications
Dr. Murphy attended Life University in Marietta, Georgia. He earned a Doctor of Chiropractic and graduated summa cum laude in 2001. To continue learning and providing the best care, he holds the designation of Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician® (CCSP®).
During this 100-hour program, Dr. Murphy was educated about physical fitness and the evaluation process and ways to address sports-related injuries. There are about 5000 chiropractors who hold this designation all around the world.
I love the positive effects chiropractic can have without any of the negative risks that other methods have.
Returning Home to Rockingham
Dr. Murphy lived in the Chicagoland area for about 10 years before moving back to Rockingham. Wanting a better environment for his children, he chose to return to his hometown. He makes the most of what our area has to offer. Hunting, fishing, working out and being outdoors are some of his favorite activities. Dr. Murphy loves to watch sports and attend games at the University of North Carolina.
With a passion for being involved in his community, Dr. Murphy is a member of the Richmond County Chamber of Commerce and the Carolina Chiropractic Association. He participates with the Richmond County Rotary, Hamlet Masonic Lodge #532 and is a member of the Oasis Shriners. Additionally, he serves on the board of the Northside Fire Department and is president of the Jonathan Hernandez Memorial Scholarship.
